Subsidies for AI training
Japanese companies may be able to use public subsidies to offset the cost of our AI training programs. Eligibility depends on each program's requirements and review.
The following programs are listed on our detailed Japanese-language page. Numbers are copied directly from official sources as of September 2026; check each program's official page for the latest figures before applying.

Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW). Covers OFF-JT training fees. SME expense subsidy rate: 75%; cap ¥300,000 – ¥500,000 depending on training hours; wage subsidy ¥1,000 per person per hour; annual cap per establishment ¥100 million. Note: from the 3 August 2026 revision, training that covers only AI concepts or prompt writing with no direct link to real job tasks is explicitly excluded. - Human Resource Development Support Grant — Investing in People Course, Fixed-Fee Training (人材開発支援助成金 人への投資促進コース 定額制訓練)

Requires adoption of at least one software product with a business process. - Small Business Sustaining Subsidy (小規模事業者持続化補助金)
